Loughborough University Football Stadium

The Loughborough University Football Stadium is a modern, functional space designed by Watson Batty Architects, opened in May 2012 as part of the Holywell Sports Complex. It replaced the shared Nanpantan Sports Ground where Loughborough Students F.C. had previously played alongside Dynamo.

Its capacity sits somewhere between 2,500 and 3,300, depending on which source you trust. The surface is natural grass, kept in condition by INFINICUT mowers. For a period, it hosted matches during the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, including Group D fixtures where Serbia lost to Germany and the Netherlands.

The primary tenants are Loughborough Students F.C. and Loughborough Lightning F.C., the women’s side formerly known as the Foxes. The men’s team recently moved up to the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands for the 2024–25 season, a step up from the Midland Football League where they had won the Cup in 2011 and 2012. The stadium itself has no dedicated website of its own; it exists within the broader digital footprint of the university’s sports facilities.

It is here now, on Loughborough University Road, and it serves the purpose it was built for.
