Pala San Giacomo

Pala San Giacomo is an arena in the town of Conversano specifically to host the handball competition of the Mediterranean Games held in Bari. It has a reputation for its parquet floor, which has been refurbished to meet the strict standards of international play.

The venue is owned by the Municipality of Conversano and serves as the home ground for the local handball side, Pallamano Conversano, as well as the futsal team, Azzurri Conversano. The arena has seen significant investment recently. Authorities began a major renovation in the summer of 2025, allocating two million euros to restore the wooden roof beams and upgrade the electrical and fire safety systems. This work was completed in time for the arena to host women's handball preliminary matches for the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto.

On the court, the conditions are precise. The natural wood parquet meets the UNI 13200-3 standard, ensuring a consistent bounce for the fast-paced games played here. The arena does not host professional basketball, focusing instead on the traditional sports of handball and futsal.
