Sparkassen-Arena
Göttingen, Germany
The Sparkassen-Arena opened in 2011, replacing the Godehardhalle on the same site at Schützenplatz 1. It is an indoor hall that hosts handball and football tournaments. The capacity is 3,447, split between seats and standing places. It is the home of BG Göttingen in the Basketball Bundesliga, which has played there since the doors opened. The parquet floor is laid over a concrete base, with PVC covering used for other events.
The highest crowd was 3,447 on December 22, 2024, when BG Göttingen lost to ALBA Berlin 83:109. The match was sold out. The venue also held DHB-Pokal games in 2019, featuring HSV Handball and other clubs. SVG Göttingen and FC Grone organise the 'Pokal des Oberbürgermeisters' indoor football tournament here. The naming rights belong to the local Sparkasse, and the arena has kept the name since it opened. It is not the same as the Sparkassen-Arena in Hildesheim or the one in Jena.
