Springfield Stadium

The Springfield Stadium sits at Janvrin Road in St Helier, but it is not a modern arena. The original Springfield Hall was demolished and the site underwent major redevelopment in 1997, when the current community hall and grandstand were opened after the States of Jersey acquired the site in 1994.

The surface is artificial, a high-tech 3G synthetic pitch installed in 2015 for the Island Games, though this was replaced with a new all-weather 3G surface in July 2025. This change cost over £800,000, but the ground remains artificial. The venue is the home ground for Jersey Bulls F.C. and serves as the headquarters for the Jersey Football Association and the home venue for the Jersey National Football Team. It is not used by St. Helier R.F.C., which plays at Les Quennevais. The capacity figures vary by source and context; the current official registered capacity is cited as 2,000, while the grandstand specifically seats 960–982 people. Historical maximum capacity, including standing areas, was up to 7,000.

The ground has seen its share of unusual uses. During the German Occupation (1940–45), the stadium was used as a tank parking area and repair depot. The site has suffered flooding in 1881, 1977, and 1980. The record attendance is over 11,100 spectators for a Manchester United match on 30 November 1971. Other notable attendances include 10,000 for the Battle of Flowers in 1928, 7,000 for a Marítimo vs Jersey Select exhibition in 2005, and 6,000 for the 2015 Island Games opening ceremony. Notable events include the first Muratti Vase final in 1905 (regularly held there since 1930), concerts by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in the 1960s (including a tomato-throwing incident in 1964), and the 2015 Island Games. The venue has no former proprietary names, though it was historically known as Springfield Showground.
