Stadiumi Vora

The ground sits in the Marqinet quarter of Vorë. It replaced an older pitch that had served the town for decades.

What you see first is the light on the pitch. A single covered stand runs along one side, its roof supported by thin metal pillars. Behind it, the crowd presses in, a mix of red and white scarves visible even from a distance. The rest of the perimeter is either open or bordered by low walls and fencing.

The club that calls this place home, KF Vora, plays in the first division. They did not travel far for their fixtures, preferring to keep the game local. The stadium’s capacity is a matter of some debate. Some counts place it closer to twelve hundred, while others push the figure toward three thousand. It matters little in the end; the place feels small regardless of the number you quote. You can hear the players’ shouts carry across the field, and the sound of a ball striking the artificial surface has a different, sharper ring than on natural grass.

There are no grand entrances or fan zones here. Just a gate that opens onto a concrete path and a dugout painted in a dull red. The mayor who oversaw the construction is still mentioned in local papers, but the stadium itself has no history beyond its recent opening. It is a functional space, built for football, nothing more. When the floodlights come on, the shadows stretch long across the touchline, and the game begins in earnest.
