The Grove
Halesowen, United Kingdom
Formerly: Stourbridge Road Ground
Most of the visible structure dates from the 1980s, when the club needed to meet Southern League standards after a promotion bid fell through. The concrete terracing replaced the old timber, the pitch was levelled, and the 420-seat Harry Rudge Stand was erected on the factory side before being extended twice in the following decade. The Shed, at the north end, is the oldest piece of seating still in use, though the original timber structure was replaced in 1950.
What stays true from before that era is the shape of the pitch itself, which had been steep enough to cause problems. The club moved in during the 1880s after three earlier homes, and the cricket club remained until 1948, meaning the patchwork of sports on the site stretches back further than most local grounds.
