The NEST

The ground sits at the edge of Roeselare in West Flanders, Belgium, on Diksmuidsesteenweg 374. Most visitors will recognise it as the home of Club NXT, the reserve team of Club Brugge, who moved in during 2021. They call the place The NEST, a nickname that stuck even though the official name remains Stadion Schiervelde.

The site was originally built to replace the club’s older pitch, Het Motje, and the first match was between KSV Roeselare and Royal Francs Borains. The main tenant was K.S.V. Roeselare, which played there from 1999 until the club was dissolved in 2020. Now the phoenix club SK Roeselare shares the ground.

There is no single architectural feature that defines the building. It looks like a standard regional stadium, with a main stand and a smaller tribune known as the 'Dennis van Wijk' stand behind one of the goals, added in 2005. The 2008 upgrade brought in a canteen, a press room and some VIP lounges on the third floor. The playing surface is natural grass, and there are two auxiliary pitches nearby, one with an artificial surface.

Capacity is a matter of debate. Football databases list 9,593 seats, while Wikipedia puts the maximum at 9,461. On matchday, security rules reduce the number to 8,340, splitting the crowd into 5,133 seated and 3,207 standing. The record attendance is not recorded in any public source. The stadium is owned by the City of Roeselare and has no dedicated website of its own; information is scattered across the pages of the two clubs that play there.
