The Trafford Powerleague Arena sits tucked away on Trafford Way, distinct from the football cathedrals of Manchester. While the city is famous for open-air pitches, this facility is a long, narrow rectangular building — a sportsdome — that feels more like a warehouse than a traditional stadium. The most striking feature of the interior is the layout of the 17 all-weather artificial turf pitches.

It opened in 1987 and carries the weight of its commercial history. Originally the JJB Soccer Dome, it was bought by Powerleague in 2008. The capacity is modest, holding just 1,100 spectators. It is not a place that hosts major finals or draws massive crowds; it is a working day-to-day venue for local competition. The basketball court sits in the middle, but the football pitches dominate the view. It is an indoor space that feels industrial, a place designed for the game itself rather than the spectacle of the game.
