Stadium
Universal Stadium
Portsmouth, United States
Formerly: Universal Stadium
Spartan Municipal Stadium still carries its old name even though it changed from Universal Stadium in 1970. It hosted the first-ever NFL night game in 1930 when the Spartans beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 12–0.
When the franchise moved to Detroit and became the Lions, the ground kept playing host to local teams. Notre Dame High School has used it since 1928. The stands hold 8,500 now, though crowds once filled it beyond capacity for games against towns like Newark and Green Bay.
A fire in the 1990s took out parts of the walls and the press box. Shawnee State University took over the site in 2024 and expects to field a team there starting in 2028.
