Bernhard Luxbacher

Bernhard Luxbacher captains First Vienna FC and was a key player as the club climbed through the lower divisions. In the 2021–22 season they won the Wiener Stadtliga and the Regionalliga Ost, and that secured promotion to the 2. Liga. He joined on a free transfer in 2020, and his contract now runs to 30 June 2028.

He came up through the Vienna youth system: FC Hirschstetten, then FC Stadlau, then the FK Austria Wien academy from 2008. He spent 2011 to 2016 with the Austria Wien II reserve side. His only senior appearance for the first team came in the Bundesliga in 2013.

Loans followed. He made 10 appearances for SKN St. Pölten in 2014–15, then played 25 times and scored five goals for Floridsdorfer AC the next season.

He played 11 games for FCM Traiskirchen in 2017 and then moved to Wiener Sport-Club, where he made 15 appearances and scored twice. In 2018 he went to North Carolina FC in the USL Championship after a tryout and played five times. Back in Austria, he scored once in 15 games for FC Mauerwerk in 2019. He signed for ASK Ebreichsdorf in January 2020, but the season was cancelled and he did not play.

At youth level he won four caps and scored once for Austria's U19s between 2012 and 2013, and the squad took part in the 2013 UEFA U19 Championship. He added one cap for the U21s in 2014.
