About the player
Fabian Reese came through Holstein Kiel's youth system before moving to Schalke 04, where he won the U19 Bundesliga title in 2015 and made his first-team debut that November, aged 17, becoming the club's ninth-youngest player ever to appear in the Bundesliga. Loan spells followed at Karlsruher SC and SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he made 44 league appearances and scored three goals.
The move that shaped his career came in January 2020, when he returned to his boyhood club Holstein Kiel for a fee of around €100,000. There he grew into a key player and helped the side to promotion.
In July 2023, Reese joined Hertha BSC on a free transfer. He became an identification figure for the club and was named captain for the 2025/26 season. He signed two contract extensions in quick succession, first to 2028 and then, in May 2025, to 2030. In June 2026, Reese transferred to VfL Wolfsburg for a fee reported between €6 million and €8 million, signing there until 2030.
