Gļebs Žaleiko

Žaleiko came through the Rīgas FS academy and made his senior breakthrough in the 2022/2023 season. He spent the first half of 2023 at BFC Daugavpils, making 15 league appearances, before returning to RFS for the second half of the season. A second Daugavpils loan followed in the second half of 2024, where he scored his first senior goal in ten league outings.

In July 2025 he moved on loan to FS Jelgava, where he became a regular fixture in midfield, making 11 Virslīga appearances and playing 528 minutes over the season. Jelgava extended his contract to the end of the 2026 season that October, a deal that turned the loan into a permanent transfer registered from the start of 2026.

Žaleiko made his senior debut for Latvia in June 2025, coming on as a substitute in a friendly draw with Azerbaijan, and was named in the squad for a World Cup qualifier against Albania days later without featuring. He has also represented Latvia at Under-21 level and was included in the squad for the 2026 Baltic Cup. His call-up in 2025 drew public attention after an incident involving his mother and RFS supporters, prompting criticism from some fan groups; Žaleiko said he regretted the episode and voiced his support for Ukraine.
