About the player
Jean Grillot arrived at Bordeaux's academy in 2020, aged 15, after starting out at Pôle Espoirs de Castelmaurou. He worked his way through the youth system and into the reserve side, playing for Bordeaux II in National 3 during the 2023–2024 season before a first-team opportunity arrived that March, when he made his professional debut in Ligue 2.
What followed tested him more than the debut itself. Bordeaux's administrative relegation dropped the club to National 2, and rather than leave, Grillot stayed on. He wore the captain's armband through the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 seasons in the third tier.
His contract with Bordeaux ran out at the end of June 2026, and in August he signed with Clermont Foot 63 as a free agent, agreeing a two-year deal with no transfer fee involved. The move takes the young central defender into Clermont's ranks after six years with the same club, from academy arrival to captaincy.
