About the player
Lagartinho is a goalkeeper from Portimão who has come up through the youth system of his home-town club, Portimonense. Lourenço José Lagartinho Rodrigues joined the academy in 2020, aged 13. He worked his way through the Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-23 sides in turn.
His route to the first team was a long one. Six years separate his arrival at the academy from his promotion to the senior squad in 2026. Portimonense treat him as a homegrown player.
In the 2025/26 season he made one appearance for Portimonense SAD in Liga Portugal 2.
Portugal has also seen him at youth level. He has represented the national side at Under-15 level. He has yet to be capped by the senior team.
For a goalkeeper of his age, the coming seasons at Portimonense will decide how much of the first-team workload he takes on.
