Leon Mayer

Leon Maier and his twin brother Loris have rarely played apart. The pair came through together at TSV Schlechtbach, VfB Stuttgart and FSV Waiblingen before starting their senior careers side by side at TSG Backnang. In the summer of 2022 the brothers moved on together again, joining Stuttgarter Kickers, and Maier made 15 appearances in his first season there as the club won promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest.

His path then diverged from his brother's for a spell. In July 2024, Maier signed for VfR Aalen, freshly promoted to the 3. Liga, but made only one appearance there before moving on again within a year. That brought him, in July 2025, to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach — and back alongside Loris, who arrived at the same club from TSV Aubstadt.

A right-back by trade, Maier has made four starts for Großaspach in the 3. Liga, though his minutes have been limited. He has yet to register a goal or an assist at senior level. The reunion with his twin, a recurring thread through his career from the youth ranks onward, again places the two brothers in the same dressing room.
