About the player
Matěj Koubek moved to FC Hradec Králové on 8 September 2022 in a swap deal that sent Erik Prekop the other way, to Bohemians Praha 1905. The club he left was the one he had joined as a boy.
Koubek came to Bohemians in 2009, after early years at FC Tempo Praha and a brief spell at Slavia Praha in 2007. He came through the youth and reserve sides and made his first-team debut on 2 December 2018 in the Czech First League against Dukla Prague. That season he divided his time between the senior squad and the under-21 team.
Regular football came on loan. He spent the 2019–20 season at Vysočina Jihlava, then went to FK Ústí nad Labem in August 2020. There he scored four goals in 2020–21, which made him the club's joint top scorer. He returned to Bohemians for 2021–22, and the following year the move to Hradec Králové followed.
At Hradec Králové he played 94 Czech First League matches and scored 11 goals, the bulk of his top-flight record. He also won three caps for the Czech Republic under-21 side, making his debut in 2021.
On 22 February 2025 he signed for FC Zlín.
