Ryan James Finnigan

Ryan Finnigan found his footing in the game at Southampton’s academy, arriving as a young boy in May 2012. He did not rush into the spotlight. Instead, he worked his way through the ranks, earning his first professional contract in December 2020 after years of development. The moment he broke into the first team came in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town in January 2021. It was a modest debut, but it marked the start of a senior career defined by movement and opportunity.

Rather than staying at one club, Finnigan’s path has been scattered across several grounds. He spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra, where he made 16 appearances and scored once. A shorter stint followed at Shrewsbury Town. In January 2024, he moved permanently to Blackpool. There, he found his rhythm, making 17 appearances and scoring a goal on his EFL Cup debut against Burton Albion. That strike gave him confidence, but he needed more game time.

The move proved vital. He made 21 appearances, scored three goals, and was named EFL League Two Player of the Month for November 2025. On 27 June 2026, he signed a three-year deal with the Scottish club.

His journey through the youth ranks included reaching the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup with Southampton U18s in the 2021-22 season. He has no recorded senior international caps for England.
