About the player
Rémi Mulumba was born in France but plays his international football for DR Congo, having first gone through the French youth system at U17, U18, U19 and U20 level. He won 17 youth caps for France and scored once, for the U20 side. He then switched allegiance and made his senior debut for DR Congo on 8 October 2015, in a friendly against Nigeria that DR Congo won 2–0.
The clearest high point came with that team. Mulumba was in the DR Congo squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He has 12 caps for the national side, counting non-FIFA friendlies, and has not scored for them.
At club level, his development ran through Lorient, which he joined in 2010 after starting out at Amiens. The Auxerre spell brought a Coupe de France final in 2015, which they lost to Paris Saint-Germain.
Once his time at Lorient ended, he moved around more. His move to Turkey came in July 2021, when Bandırmaspor signed him on a free transfer. His contract there runs to June 2028.
Injuries have interrupted his time in Turkey. He had muscle problems between December 2023 and February 2024, and a knee injury kept him out in February and March 2026. He has never been sent off in a professional match.
