About the player
Timurbek Zakirov won the Kazakhstan Cup with Ordabasy in 2022, though he played only eight league games for the club. He had joined from Shakhter Karagandy as a free agent in July 2021.
Zakirov started young. He made 20 league appearances for Baityrek across 2013 and 2014, and had already played for Kazakhstan at youth level: two caps for the under-17s in 2012 and one for the under-19s the following year. Two more came for the under-21s in 2018.
His longest spell was at Kyzylzhar, where he played 62 league matches. The club took bronze in the First League in 2016 and silver in 2017. In July 2019 he kept a clean sheet for 180 minutes in that competition, and the same year he made a single Premier League appearance for Taraz, against Ordabasy.
At Shakhter Karagandy he played 18 league matches and two in the Super Cup over two seasons. He then moved to Turan in March 2023 and played 35 league matches there over three seasons before joining Ulytau. Each of his last three moves, from Shakhter to Ordabasy, from Ordabasy to Turan and from Turan to Ulytau, was made as a free agent.
Zakirov is from Shymkent. He moved between clubs regularly, and Ulytau is the latest of them.
