Piripiri football splits into two camps whenever Colorado meets Parnahyba Esporte Clube.
The club has gone up and down the state pyramid more than once, winning the Campeonato Piauiense in 1992, 1993, 2011 and 2020, then dropping to Série B and climbing back through titles in 2003 and 2016. In March 2025 that cycle turned against them again, and Colorado go into the 2026 season back in the second division.
That came from the 2021 Copa do Brasil, when Colorado knocked out Confiança and then Cuiabá, a Série A side, on penalties, before drawing São Paulo FC in the third round.
Colorado also took a domestic cup, the Torneio Pedro Freitas, back in 1989, which was enough at the time to send them into the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B.
