Ralf Schulenberg won a bronze medal with the East German national side in 1972. He is the best-known name to have come through the football of Rudisleben. Rudisleben played as BSG Motor. Motor won the district title in 1959, 1962, 1964, 1968, 1978 and 1991.
The club in its present form dates from May 2009. That year SV Arnstadt-Rudisleben merged with BC 07 Arnstadt. Blue and yellow are the colours, and 4,000 can fit into the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Stadion.

The club's older names include Holger Bühner, who played in the Bundesliga, and Manfred Vogel. Vogel finished as top scorer in the East German top flight, the Oberliga, in 1974/75.
