The team traces back to Ben Slimane, where Forces Auxiliaires de Ben Slimane took the field in 1977 under the colours of the paramilitary force that gave it its name. The side did not survive in that form: in 1994 it was dissolved and rebuilt in Laâyoune, reborn as Jeunesse Sportive d'El Massira.
JS Massira had reached Botola Pro, Morocco's top flight, and in the 1996–97 season finished fifth. That same campaign brought a semi-final run in the Coupe du Trône, repeated in 2000–01 and 2004–05. Hafid Abdessadek played that 1996–97 season on loan before his career took him to Raja CA.
Off the pitch, the club has stayed close to its predecessor.
