Jahn Regensburg II

Jahn Regensburg II lifted the Bavarian Cup in 2004, a victory that remains the only major silverware for the reserve side. Under the guidance of Günter Brandl , who had previously managed the first team, the squad carved their way through the knockout stages to reach the final. The triumph was a rare moment of clarity for a club that spends most of its existence in the shadows of the senior outfit.

The team’s lineage is tangled. It traces back to 1962 when the senior department was still part of the same structure, operating as SSV Jahn Regensburg Amateure. When the professional side collapsed into bankruptcy in 2000, the reserve section was reformed in 2002 as Jahn Regensburg II, stepping into the void left by SG Post/Süd Regensburg. They inherited the ground, Sportpark am Kaulbachweg, and the city’s colours, red and white. The stadium holds 4,000 spectators.

Currently, the team competes in the Oberliga Bayern Nord, the fifth tier of the German pyramid. It is a developmental league where young players are sent to work out the rust or prove they can handle the physicality of adult football. On the pitch, the team has shown flashes of promise. They finished as runners-up in the Landesliga Bayern-Mitte in 2010 and 2011.
