Kechnec had its best days in the Slovak Cup in 2019–20, when it reached the third round. They went through two ties to get there. First they beat FK Košická Nová Ves, then MFK Ťahanovce.

Kechnec is a village, and the club's scale follows from that. The club keeps a Facebook page for news, and the youth side runs its own separate website. The senior team's old site has gone quiet, so the youth pages and Facebook are where the club's activity shows.

The league story is one of movement between levels. Kechnec have played in the 3. Liga, the third tier, and they now compete in the 4. Liga Východ, the eastern division.

The cup run ended in the third round against TJ Mladosť Kalša. Kechnec drew 1–1 and lost the penalty shoot-out.
