Pogoń Mogilno

Mogilno's football club did not begin as one team but as two. Wanda, formed in March 1920, and Polonia, a year its junior, merged in the Hall of the Catholic Home on 23 May 1923, and it was that meeting that fixed the colours, blue and white, and the name Pogoń.

The club has never confined itself to football. Boxing, cycling, basketball and bridge have all carried the Pogoń name at one time or another, and the table tennis section reached the second tier as recently as 2024.

On the pitch the high point came between 2012 and 2015, when Pogoń held a place in the third tier before dropping back into regional football. It has stayed in the fifth-tier IV Liga Kujawsko-Pomorska since, and came within a penalty shoot-out of ending that run: runners-up with 70 points, Pogoń lost the promotion play-off to Grom Nowy Staw 4-3 on penalties after the tie finished level. The club had gone further than usual in the regional cup the season earlier, reaching the semi-final before Tłuchowia Tłuchowo eliminated them the same way, from the spot.

Derby weekends here are decided by the map. Kujawianka Strzelno, once carried the old nickname "Polska – Niemcy" for the fixture, while the longer trip to face Cuiavia Inowrocław is billed simply as the Kuyavia derby.

The club marked its hundredth year in 2023, still playing at the Michał Olszewski Olympic Stadium, renovated in 2013.
