Stonava

Founded in 1932 as TJ Sokol Stonava, the side took the name TJ VOKD Stonava in 1958 after merging with a works team from the Ostrava-Karviná coal combine, then became TJ Důl ČSM Stonava in 1969. Under the VOKD name, in the 1960s, the club won the Pohár Karvinských novin, the Karviná newspapers' cup.

The mining money stopped after 1989, and the club spent the 1990s adjusting to paying its own way, settling on SK Stonava in 1999. A harder patch came earlier, in 1977-78, when the side withdrew from the district championship altogether rather than finish it.

What has followed since has been slow climbing rather than silverware. Stonava won the I. A třída Moravskoslezského kraje group B in the 2022/23 season and went up to the regional Přebor, then finished as runners-up there in 2024/25 to earn a second promotion in three years, into the Divize F for 2025/26. The rivalry that matters locally is with FK Baník Albrechtice, a fixture still spoken of as a derby.

Hřiště Stonava holds 1,000 people, modest even by the standards of Czech regional football, though a new stand went up in 2005 and the pitch itself was rebuilt in 2009-2010. None of that has yet produced a name the club is known for beyond Stonava: no player raised there has gone on to be recognised in the country's top flight.
