SV Venray has the result the town still points to — the 1987 KNVB Amateur Cup, won by the club that plays its matches at Sportpark De Wieën on one side of town. UNA settled on the other side, at De Kromkamp, and has never had a run to set against it. Both are amateur sides, built for a Sunday fixture list rather than a push toward the professional ranks, yet only one of them has a cup final to look back on.

That gap has stayed open. No cup run is attached to UNA's name, no promotion campaign that carried De Kromkamp into wider view. The club has gone about its business locally, season after season, while its neighbour across town built the kind of history that outsiders associate with Venray football whenever the town comes up.

The order in which the two arrived tells a different story, though. De Kromkamp was there first, quietly, before there was anything in Venray to compare it with.
