Bayern Munich Women saw off Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 in the Bundesliga's fourth round on Sunday at the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion, extending their unbeaten run to eight matches. The visitors took all three points despite a spirited response from the home side, who had started brighter in the opening exchanges.

Paulina Tomasiak opened the scoring in the thirty-sixth minute, finishing a move that caught Leverkusen's defence off guard. Vanessa Gilles equalised shortly after the hour mark, but Tomasiak restored the lead within a minute when Gilles lost possession near the halfway line. It was a brief spell of chaos that left Bayern scrambling.

Edna Imade then found the net in the sixty-eighth minute, cutting inside before firing past the goalkeeper. Alara Sehitler added the winner in the eighty-eighth minute, latching onto a loose ball after a cleared corner. By then Leverkusen had tightened things up defensively, but the damage was done.

Bayern dominated possession at 76 per cent and completed 538 passes compared to 200 for their hosts. They registered six shots on target but hit the woodwork once and saw three efforts blocked. Leverkusen managed five on target with a higher accuracy rate, yet created nothing of real substance.

The result keeps Bayern in second place with twelve points from four games, while Leverkusen remain eighth on six. The visitors have won all four matches this season and now hold a six-point gap over the home side, who have lost two of their opening fixtures.
