Montpellier women opened their First Women's Division campaign with a commanding 5:1 victory over Toulouse at Stade Jules Rimet on Friday evening. The hosts were ruthless in front of goal, scoring five times in the opening forty minutes before the visitors managed a late consolation. By then it was clear this was not a contest.
A. Fontaine started the scoring with a penalty in the seventeenth minute, and to be fair she was never going to be stopped. She added another in the twenty-eighth, and the floodgates opened further with goals from A. Humbert and N. Oleszkiewicz before B. Kharafi completed a dominant first half. Montpellier were overrun in midfield and Toulouse could find no way back.
The visitors' problems deepened in the second half when F. Bogi received a red card in the fifty-sixth minute. Toulouse tried to regroup but Montpellier's precision was too much. The match was already decided, yet Toulouse pulled one back through S. Altunkulak from the spot in the ninety-second minute — a late gesture that changed nothing.
