About the player
Andrés Copete was born in Quibdó and started out with Nacional's under-20 side in Uruguay, where he featured in the U20 Copa Libertadores before heading to Europe. He spent close to three seasons in Portugal with SC Lusitânia, a spell that ran from mid-2021 to the middle of 2024, before returning across the Atlantic to sign for Colón in Uruguay.
That stint lasted into the end of 2025, after which Copete moved on again, this time to Ecuador and Técnico Universitario for the first half of 2026. Each of those moves came on a free or undisclosed fee. He joined Fortaleza FC later in 2026 and has made seven or eight league appearances for the club so far.
At 191 cm, Copete brings size to the back line, though his career has yet to include senior international recognition or a major honour. He is not related to Jhon Córdoba, the Colombian forward who won the Russian Premier League with Krasnodar — the two share the Copete surname but nothing more.
