Franco Negri

Franco Negri's route to Houston has run through nearly every layer of Argentine and American football. He came up through San Lorenzo's academy after joining from his hometown club, San Martín in Mendoza, before his first taste of senior football arrived on loan at Quilmes in 2016. A further loan at Independiente Rivadavia turned permanent in 2018, and it was there that Negri had his most productive spell in Argentina, scoring five goals in 40 appearances over two seasons.

What followed was a run through some of the country's biggest names on short-term deals: Belgrano, Newell's Old Boys, then Godoy Cruz, each spell lasting little more than a season. That itinerant period gave way to stability in the United States. Signing for Inter Miami CF in January 2023, Negri became part of a squad that won the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 MLS Supporters' Shield, appearing 32 times and also turning out for the club's MLS Next Pro side. San Diego FC picked him up via the MLS Re-Entry Draft for the 2025 season, where he made 20 appearances and contributed a goal and an assist, before the club declined his option this past January.

That decision made him a free agent, and Negri has now signed with Houston Dynamo on a deal running through 2026 with a club option into 2027. He arrives in Texas with two MLS trophies already on his CV, even if a first senior call-up from Argentina has so far eluded him.
