About the player
Jacobo Pimentel Betancourt came through Boyacá Chicó's own academy and has never worn another club's shirt. He made his senior debut for the club around 2019/2020 and has stayed on ever since, initially wearing the number 29 before switching to his current 21.
His time at the club has coincided with one of its more turbulent spells. Boyacá Chicó was relegated to the Primera B in 2022, and Pimentel stayed and became part of the squad that fought its way back up. Chicó won the Torneo Apertura of the 2022 Primera B, beating Deportes Quindío 4-2 on penalties in the final — a shootout in which Pimentel himself scored. The club then went on to win the Gran Final against Atlético Huila 3-0 on aggregate in November 2022, sealing the overall title and an automatic return to the Categoría Primera A for 2023.
Pimentel's connection to the club runs deeper than most players': he belongs to the Pimentel family, which owns and runs Boyacá Chicó, alongside his brother Nicolás and his uncle Eduardo. He has not been capped by the Colombian national team at senior level.
