About the player
Mathias Macallister grew up around the game: his father, Dylan Macallister, was a striker who played across the A-League and abroad, including a spell with SK Brann, and won youth caps for Australia. The son has followed a similar path through Sydney's own youth ranks, coming through the Sydney FC academy and playing for the club's NPL Men's NSW side before signing his first professional contract with the A-League Men's squad.
He plays as a centre-forward and wears the number 22 shirt, a number previously carried by Max Burgess at Sydney FC. Born in Oslo, Macallister is eligible to represent both Australia and Norway at international level.
