The Eagles head into another cycle.

USA Rugby was set up in 1975 to revive a sport that had gone quiet in the country by the mid-1920s, decades after Olympic gold in 1920 and 1924. The national side did not take the field again until January 1976, against Australia in Anaheim, and waited until 1978 for its first win of that new era, 12–7 over Canada in Baltimore — the start of a rivalry now played out annually as the North American Derby. The Eagles' clearest silverware in the 15-a-side game came in 2017, when they won the inaugural Americas Rugby Championship — their first title in that format in over ninety years. Two years later they reached 12th in the World Rugby rankings, their highest position on record. Sevens has given the country its most recent Olympic moment, a bronze medal at Rio 2016 built around finishers like Carlin Isles and Perry Baker, with Baker still involved through the Paris 2024 squad.

Without a fixed home ground, the team splits its fixtures between Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson and Infinity Park in Glendale.
