Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium
Brookings, United States
Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium sits on the South Dakota State University campus in Brookings.
The ground does not carry the weight of old history. It replaced Coughlin-Alumni Stadium after the old venue closed in 2015. The new build finished in August 2016, two years after construction began. The opening was marked by a concert featuring country music artists rather than a football match. The first game followed two days later, a victory over Drake. The project cost $65 million, funded largely by gifts from Dana Dykhouse and T. Denny Sanford.
On match days, the facility feels different from the older collegiate grounds in the region. The playing surface is AstroTurf 3D-52 Xtreme synthetic turf.
The crowd capacity is 19,340. The premium Club 71 facility hosts approximately 85 events per year outside of football games, including holiday parties and corporate events. The stadium has no separate official website; visitors must go through the university’s main page to find information.
