DATCU Stadium
Denton, United States
Formerly: Mean Green Stadium, Apogee Stadium
DATCU Stadium sits in Denton, Texas, where Interstate 35E and Interstate 35W pull apart. That is what the place is like now.
It opened in 2011 to replace Fouts Field and was the first new college football facility in the United States to earn LEED Platinum certification. Three wind turbines sit on the roof, turning the breeze into power. The pitch beneath them is a hybrid system—PowerBlade HP—rather than natural grass.
The stands hold 30,100 seats after permanent chairbacks were fitted in sections 104, 105 and 106 on the west side in August 2024. Before that the capacity sat at 30,850.
It is not the home of FC Dallas, who play at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. DATCU Stadium belongs to the University of North Texas Mean Green. The attendance record of 30,150 was set on September 29, 2018, when Louisiana Tech University came to town. The first sellout came later, on October 10, 2025, against South Florida with 31,386 fans in the stands.
The naming rights changed hands in 2023 when DATCU Credit Union took over. Before that, the ground was known as Apogee Stadium, and long before that, during its planning phase, Mean Green Stadium.
It has hosted concerts and marching band championships, but the football games are the reason it was built. The cost to construct it was $78 million at the time.
