Drake Field

Drake Field The surface is a distinct black, synthetic turf that covers the majority of the athletic complex. The stadium sits on the campus of SUNY Morrisville, a small college in upstate New York, and serves as the home ground for six athletic teams, including football and soccer.

The venue underwent a significant renovation in 2010, when a new athletic stadium complex was unveiled to replace older facilities. The official facility page describes the current setup as a multipurpose synthetic turf field. In 2023, the stadium received the new black synthetic turf, marking the first change in the playing surface since 2006. This unique black turf installation garnered national attention, distinguishing the ground from its peers.

The seating capacity of Drake Field is approximately 2,000 seats. It features bleachers on one side with a concourse and a solid press box. The venue is named after Robert Drake, a former football coach and athletics director at the college who served from 1948 to 1978. The stadium serves as the home field for six of the college's 17 athletic teams, accommodating the needs of multiple sports on a single pitch.
