El-Kanemi Stadium

Maiduguri, Nigeria

El-Kanemi Stadium is located in Maiduguri, Borno State. It is named for Muhammad al-Amin al-Kanemi, a ruler of the Kanem-Borno Empire, and serves as the home ground for El-Kanemi Warriors F.C., a club founded in 1986. The venue is part of the El-Kanemi Sports Complex, managed by the Borno State Government.

Inside the fence, the pitch is natural grass. Reports from late 2024 suggest the turf is in poor condition. It hosts local derbies, such as the 2016 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash with Kano Pillars, described as the biggest match in the region since the insurgency began. There are no records of international finals or concerts, and the stadium has never changed its name. It is a ground that has survived, not one that has thrived.
