Estádio José Américo de Almeida Filho / Estádio Evandro Lélis

The ground sits in the Cristo Redentor neighbourhood of João Pessoa. It opened on 9 March 1975, built to meet the Brazilian Football Confederation’s requirements for national league matches, and originally carried the name Estádio Ministro Ernani Sátiro. Three months later, a decree renamed it for José Américo de Almeida Filho, a former player and club president who had died in a car accident two years earlier.

Its original capacity hovered around 44,000, but safety regulations have trimmed the figure to 25,770. A collapsed section of the main stand’s canopy was repaired in 2019, and in June 2025 a new LED lighting system was installed to meet broadcasting standards. There is no pitch heating system.

The pitch is natural grass. It serves as the home ground for Botafogo Futebol Clube (João Pessoa) and Auto Esporte Clube. Campinense Clube, based in Campina Grande, occasionally uses the stadium for finals or when their own venue is unavailable, though it is not their home. A notable match took place here on 15 November 1998, when 44,268 spectators watched Botafogo defeat Campinense 2–0 in the Campeonato Paraibano final. The stadium also hosted an international friendly between Brazil and Yugoslavia on 14 November 1989 and two women’s matches against Argentina in September 2021. It has hosted concerts, including performances by Henrique & Juliano and Jorge & Mateus in late 2024 and 2025. There is no official website for the stadium; it is managed by the State Government of Paraíba’s Sports Secretariat.
