Frank Bailey Field
Schenectady, United States
Frank Bailey Field sits on the Union College campus in Schenectady.
It is best known as the stage for the Dutchman Shoes football game, the oldest college football rivalry in New York State at any level, with over 117 games played between Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The ground also hosts the annual homecoming games and first-year student orientation gatherings, such as the Class of 2027 welcome address by President David Harris.
The field has seen other tenants over the years. The Albany BWP Highlanders soccer team used the pitch from 2003 to 2010, and the Albany Admirals once held their matches here. Today, the space is shared with the Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium section, which serves as the home for the field hockey team.
It is named after Frank Bailey, a Brooklyn-based financier and philanthropist who graduated from the college in 1885 and served as its treasurer for 51 years.
