Gerald J. Ford Stadium

The horseshoe shape of the bowl is what defines the view from the stands, a configuration that has changed only recently. Until the final phase of the Garry Weber Endzone Complex was completed in 2024, that south end remained open to the sky. The enclosure brought in club seats and luxury suites, shifting the capacity to a standard 33,200, though the venue can hold 36,742 when standing room is added.

That event was played here in 2010, when the official attendance record of 36,742 was set. The grass is natural, a change brought in for the 2025 season after twelve years with artificial turf. The surface sits twenty-five feet below ground level, where silver lace-coated blankets are laid over the roots to encourage growth in the heat.

The stadium opened in September of 2000, replacing a ground that had been demolished two years prior. Funding came largely from an alumnus and banker, Gerald J. Ford, whose name is attached to the current facility. It has never carried a different official title. Beyond football, the pitch has hosted the NCAA Division I Women's College Cup in 2001, and since 2019 it has played host to the First Responder Bowl. The field has also seen the Stadium Blitz Tour, an obstacle course event, run across its length. The ground is located within the city limits of University Park, though the mailing address sends correspondence to Dallas.
