Irwin Belk Complex
Charlotte, United States
The Irwin Belk Complex sits on the Johnson C. Smith University campus in Charlotte. It opened in January 2003, replacing Memorial Stadium. The ground was named for Irwin Belk, who donated $1 million in 1997, and the field itself carries the name of Eddie C. McGirt, the coach who carried the side from 1959 to 1977.
The pitch is artificial turf, specifically FieldTurf VERTEX CORE with CoolPlay infill, installed in the spring of 2023. A track with a Beynon BSS 2000 polyurethane surface surrounds it. The venue has hosted the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2007, 2010, and 2018, as well as the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Track and Field Trials. It is home to the JCSU Golden Bulls. Other tenants have included the Carolina Trojans and the Charlotte Express. The complex has a seating capacity of 4,500.
