Joan C. Edwards Stadium
Huntington, United States
Formerly: Marshall University Stadium
This ground carries a different weight from the others in the conference. It opened in 1991, and though it has grown since then, the original structure remains visible in the way the stands curve around the pitch. The most defining feature, however, is what the stadium represents to the town. It was the first Division I-A football arena to be named after a woman, honouring Joan C. Edwards. That history sits quietly behind the green banners that now fly above the entrance.
What has changed is the capacity. The stadium was built with expansion in mind, and the extra seats were added slowly over the years. The current number is higher than the original, but the shape of the ground has not altered.
The stadium has hosted more than just college games. It has held national championships and conference titles, and occasionally a concert or a community exercise. But for most people who come here, it is simply the place where Marshall University plays football.
