LaVell Edwards Stadium
Provo, United States
Formerly: Cougar Stadium
The LaVell Edwards Stadium is located in Provo, Utah. The scale of the building is imposing, but it is the setting that defines it.
The ground is located in Provo, Utah, where the weather brings a distinct character to the games. The surface is natural grass, and it has been replaced and maintained through several renovations over the years. The stadium opened in 1964 as Cougar Stadium , before being renamed in 2000 to honour the school’s long-serving head coach. It replaced an older, smaller venue and has grown since, with concrete stands built to hold tens of thousands of people.
Inside, the atmosphere is shaped by the view. You look up from the pitch and see the peaks rising above the floodlights. The parking lot is vast and flat, and during the 2002 Winter Olympics it served as a temporary bus station for visitors. Today it is still the quiet space before the game starts.
