Mustang Memorial Field

The ground at 1 Grand Avenue in San Luis Obispo carries three names across its life, a shift that follows the money and memory rather than any change in the building itself. Mustang Memorial Field sits on the campus of California Polytechnic State University, and the first thing you notice is the main stand.

The structure has stood since 1935. The original concrete and steel skeleton remains, but the capacity adjusted over the decades to sit at 11,075. The name changed twice in the space of a generation: Alex G. The memorials are not decorative; they set the tone for the club.
