The Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium does not announce itself with grandeur. The natural grass surface is maintained by the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality, which has spent recent years patching fences and upgrading the VIP section. In 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the crowd on Heritage Day. Two years later, in October 2022, the same space hosted a town hall meeting where community members turned their anger toward service delivery. The stadium absorbed the shouting just as it absorbs the sun.
When they host the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs final, as they did in June 2024 against Kruger United, the stakes are real.
