The ground in Sulaymaniyah has a new face. It rose from the earth recently, opening in late 2024. The pitch is natural grass.
Lahur Sheikh Jangi funded the project. The capacity sits at 14,500.
The opening match against Al-Najaf SC ended in a 2–1 win, played in front of a modest 5,000 spectators. The construction, managed by Qunsul Company and designed by Arc Design Studio, cost $12 million.
The clash between supporters resulted in 62 injuries and led to bans for both clubs for the rest of the season.
The reality is a 14,500-seat arena that has already seen its share of both triumph and trouble.
