Nippert Stadium
Cincinnati, United States
Formerly: Carson Field, James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium
It was dedicated on 27 September 1924, when brick and concrete replaced the wooden bleachers that preceded it, funded by a donation from James N. Gamble in memory of his grandson who died from a football injury in December 1923. It has hosted American football and soccer in the same span, with the surface changed to artificial turf in 2016 to accommodate FC Cincinnati's move to the Major League Soccer (MLS).
The ground sits in the Clifton neighbourhood, a residential area that does not typically see crowds of this size. The capacity reaches just under 40,000, a figure that has fluctuated as renovations adjusted the balance between football and soccer. The attendance record of 40,124 was set in 2015, during a college football match, though the ground has hosted presidential rallies and concerts as well.
