Pacific Bell Park
San Francisco, United States
Formerly: Pacific Bell Park, SBC Park, AT&T Park
The playing surface is natural grass, kept in good condition despite the salt air. The dimensions of the outfield adjust to the wind; when the fire is blowing out, the power hitters can cut them open at will, but on a foggy morning, the game slows down and they play inside.
The venue has seen its share of history. It hosted the All-Star Game in 2007 and was the setting for three World Series titles, with the crowds packed tight behind the backstop. The recent renovation moved the bullpens behind the wall, changing the feel of the outfield and reducing the capacity slightly to allow for a new terrace area.
The name has changed over the years with the sponsors, but everyone still calls it by the name that stuck for the longest time. The address is marked by the plaza named after the team’s greatest player, and the gates open to a view that no other stadium can offer.
