Platz am Jahnring

Platz am Jahnring is a functional home for the Hamburg Pioneers, the American football team that calls this complex home. The capacity is small, perhaps 800, meaning the crowd does not swell into a roar but remains a close-knit group of supporters who watch the game unfold without barriers.

The playing surface is artificial turf, chosen to withstand the heavy use of the Hamburg Pioneers.

The wider complex, the Jahnkampfbahn, dates back to 1924, but the current iteration of the pitch is a modern creation. It sits within a district where daily life flows around the boundary fence. The ground is not a temple of football, but it is a functional home.
